His name was Beau Nash . He would be seen around Bath, wearing a black wig with a contrasting white hat, raised patterned waistcoats and ruffled shirts. Men all over England tried to copy his style. Nash organised public balls ,matched ladies with dancing partners and regulated gambling. Some people called him the king of Bath.He sounds (like a lot of Welsh people) quite a character.
